COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree is structured over three years to provide students with a thorough understanding of radiographic science, clinical practice, and professional healthcare skills. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Academic Skills, Human Science, Understanding Systems, Team Working and Core Skills in Healthcare, Radiographic Science 1, and Radiography Clinical Practice 1. These modules introduce anatomy, physiology, imaging principles, teamwork, and initial clinical experience, providing students with the technical and interpersonal skills needed for patient-centered care. Year 2 expands theoretical and practical expertise with modules including Evidence-Based and Sustainable Practice, Pathology of the Human Body, Radiographic Science 2, Image Interpretation 1, and Radiography Clinical Practice 2. Students develop their ability to apply radiographic techniques, interpret diagnostic images, and integrate clinical knowledge with evidence-based practice in real healthcare environments. In Year 3, students focus on advanced practice, leadership, and professional development through modules such as Quality Improvement and Leadership in Health and Care, Image Interpretation 2, Radiographic Science 3, and Radiography Clinical Practice 3. This final year emphasises advanced image interpretation, clinical decision-making, and the development of leadership and quality improvement skills. Throughout the program, students gain critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, preparing them for careers as competent, confident diagnostic radiographers in hospitals, clinics, or specialist healthcare settings, with opportunities for further professional development and postgraduate study.
