COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and Computer Forensics degree is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in computing, cybersecurity, and digital investigation. In Year 1, students develop core knowledge through modules such as Software Development, Introduction to Computing, Computer Systems, and Emerging Technologies, supported by Student Success modules that enhance academic and professional skills. These modules establish a strong understanding of programming, systems architecture, and emerging technological trends, preparing students for more specialised study. Year 2 focuses on applied skills in cyber security and forensics through modules including Computer Security and Forensics, Web Programming and Databases, Interdisciplinary modules, and Industry, Careers and Enterprise, providing practical experience and professional insights into digital security and investigative practices. In Year 3, students advance their expertise with modules such as Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking, Digital Investigation and Data Recovery, Research Informed Practice, and the Computing Major Project, allowing them to undertake independent research and applied projects that integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world problem-solving. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, analytical, and technical skills, along with communication, teamwork, and project management abilities. Graduates are prepared for careers in cybersecurity, digital forensics, ethical hacking, IT security consultancy, law enforcement, and other technology-driven fields, or for further study in advanced computing and digital security disciplines.
