COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Popular Music course at Canterbury Christ Church University provides a comprehensive and immersive education in music performance, composition, and production. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Popular Music Making, Performance Skills, Songwriting, Composition and Culture, and Band Performance, alongside Student Success Modules that support academic and professional growth. Year two focuses on advancing practical expertise and industry readiness, with modules covering Performance and Content Creation, Performance for Stage, Composing for the Creative Arts, and interdisciplinary study, supported by an Industry, Careers and Enterprise module that helps students prepare for professional practice. In the final year, students consolidate their skills and produce professional-standard work through Performance, Recording and Improvisation, Composing for Industry Briefs, and a Performance Project, culminating in a Final Specialist Project that showcases their individual talents and creative vision.
