COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Music Production degree at Canterbury Christ Church University provides students with a thorough grounding in music creation, production, and performance across a variety of contexts. In the first year, students build essential skills through modules in computer audio production, studio recording and mixing, songwriting, composition, and creative production techniques, alongside Student Success modules that support academic development. Year two deepens practical expertise and industry readiness through modules focused on live sound and studio practice, creative sound design, and composing for the creative arts, while also offering opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary projects and industry-focused learning experiences. The third year emphasizes professional application, with modules on composing for industry briefs, professional production skills, and the development of an industry portfolio, culminating in a Creative Arts and Industries Project that synthesizes learning and demonstrates practical capabilities. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software and equipment, including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and studio technologies, and are encouraged to collaborate with peers from other creative disciplines. The program equips graduates with the technical proficiency, creative confidence, and professional skills necessary to succeed in music production, sound design, live performance, and the wider creative industries.
