COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Finance and Investment program is structured around core and optional modules that develop strong analytical, technical and professional skills for careers in finance. Financial Instruments and Markets introduces the role of financial markets in allocating capital, covering a wide range of financial instruments, their pricing, valuation and associated risks. Corporate Finance focuses on funding decisions and investment appraisal, including topics such as capital structure, mergers and acquisitions and international corporate finance. Financial Data Analysis develops practical skills in evaluating company performance through ratio analysis, forecasting, modelling and the use of financial software. Corporate Governance and Sustainability explores governance frameworks, board responsibilities and the promotion of sustainable and ethical business practices. Derivatives and Risk Management examines financial risks faced by organisations and the use of derivatives and risk management strategies to identify, measure and control exposure. Investments and Portfolio Management develops understanding of investment theory, asset allocation, security analysis and portfolio performance evaluation. Optional pathways allow students to undertake a professional project, a business consultancy module or a work placement, providing opportunities to apply financial knowledge in real-world settings. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive education that prepares graduates for professional roles in investment, corporate finance and financial analysis.
