COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Artificial Intelligence program offers a structured blend of core and optional modules that develop both foundational knowledge and specialist skills in intelligent systems. Core study begins with Introduction to Applied Artificial Intelligence, which explores the historical development, key theories and practical design of intelligent systems, focusing on how AI technologies are applied to solve real-world problems. Robots and Robotic Systems introduces the interdisciplinary nature of robotics, combining principles from engineering, computer science, mathematics and neuroscience to understand how complex robotic devices are designed and controlled. The Project module forms a major component of the course, requiring an independent, in-depth investigation into a cyber-security or AI-related topic, often linked to industry practice, and involving research, problem analysis and solution development. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, including Expert and Fuzzy Systems, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Intelligent Agents, and Data Science, each offering practical and theoretical insight into advanced AI techniques. Additional options such as Legal and Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security Assurance and Risk Management address professional, ethical and regulatory challenges. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive education in artificial intelligence, preparing graduates for technical, analytical and research-focused roles.
