COURSE CURRICULUM

The Registered Nurse (Adult) MSc is structured over two years, combining theoretical learning with practical clinical experience to prepare students for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge and skills essential for nursing practice through modules such as Enhancing Health and Integrated Care, Developing Skills for Practice, and Applied Research. They gain hands-on experience in clinical settings through Nursing Practice Parts 1 and 2, building competencies in care delivery under supervision, pharmacology, and safe medicines management. Enhancing Skills for Nursing Practice allows students to manage more complex patient needs while consolidating theoretical and practical learning. Mandatory training ensures all students meet professional and regulatory requirements. In the second year, the focus shifts to preparing students for professional practice as registered nurses. Skills for Registration equips them to provide comprehensive nursing interventions across mental, physical, cognitive, and behavioral health challenges, while Transition to Registered Nurse develops leadership, care management, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills. The dissertation module strengthens research capabilities and critical application of evidence-based practice. Nursing Practice Part 3 further enhances clinical, leadership, and decision-making abilities in both planned and unpredictable situations. The program ensures graduates are confident, competent, and ready to enter the nursing profession, with the skills to deliver high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings.
