COURSE CURRICULUM

The Wireless and Computer Communication Networks MSc at Brunel University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of advanced communication systems and equips them with practical skills to design, analyse, and implement modern network technologies. The program covers a broad range of topics, including applied sensors, instrumentation and control, artificial intelligence systems techniques, communication network security, and advanced network technologies such as 4G, 5G, LTE, and IoT systems. Students gain hands-on experience with real-time signal processing, embedded DSP, and FPGA systems, learning to develop and implement algorithms for communication and data processing applications. The course also addresses the integration of radio and optical communication systems, enabling students to understand their operation and role in global communication networks. Emphasis is placed on the application of artificial intelligence, including fuzzy logic, neural networks, neuro-fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms, and swarm intelligence, to real-world problems in wireless and computer networks. Students develop skills in digital communication, modulation, coding, compression, and channel modelling while also exploring ethical, legal, social, and sustainability issues in engineering practice. The program culminates in a project and dissertation, allowing students to undertake an in-depth, independent investigation, applying theoretical knowledge and technical skills to solve complex problems and preparing them for professional careers in communications engineering, IoT, network security, and related fields.
