COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Accounting MSc at Brunel provides a comprehensive understanding of financial management, accounting, and investment analysis, equipping students with advanced knowledge and practical skills for careers in finance. Core modules include Financial Reporting in Capital Markets, which explores the link between economic events and financial statements and develops critical thinking on reporting controversies. International Accounting Standards and Policy introduces global financial reporting standards and financial statement analysis, while Foundations of Finance covers financial instruments, markets, capital budgeting, portfolio theory, and the Capital Asset Pricing Model. Business Finance examines corporate financing decisions, alternative funding sources, and the relationship between capital structure and share valuation. Investment Valuation Models teach students to analyse corporate, country-specific, and global information to estimate investment value using various models, and Quantitative Methods for Business Finance develops statistical and regression analysis skills for empirical research. The dissertation enables students to undertake an independent investigation applying the techniques learned in taught modules. Optional modules further enhance expertise with advanced topics such as Global Financial Markets, Security Analysis and Funds Management, Business Finance Workshop, and International Finance, covering international banking, regulation, portfolio management, and multi-currency finance.
