COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital Design (3D Animation) MSc offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with advanced technical and creative skills for careers in the digital creative industries. Core modules provide a solid foundation in digital design, exploring fundamental principles through theory and project-based work, and developing practical digital design skills relevant to contemporary business practice. The Digital Media Technologies module familiarises students with the full video production workflow, including pre-production, production, and post-production processes. The 3D Animation module focuses on both technical and aesthetic aspects of animation and performance capture, enabling students to understand CGI pipelines and develop creative animation projects. The Major Project, or dissertation, allows students to undertake a complete digital branding project, encompassing market research, budgeting, media planning, production, distribution, and evaluation of project effectiveness. Optional modules enable further specialisation, such as Digital Branding Strategy, which examines the impact of branding on organisations and society; Brand Experience Design, focusing on marketing communications channels; Motion Graphics, developing skills in animated typography, compositing, and post-production; and Immersive Mixed Reality Design, which explores augmented and virtual reality principles, tools, and applications. Together, these modules combine technical proficiency, creative experimentation, and professional practice, preparing graduates to produce industry-standard digital content and excel in animation, motion graphics, digital branding, and immersive media.
