COURSE CURRICULUM

The compulsory modules of the Business Finance MSc offer a strong foundation in financial theory, quantitative analysis, and market operations, equipping students with skills essential for professional financial decision-making. Core modules explore the functioning of financial markets and corporate finance policy, the characteristics of financial instruments such as bonds and equities, and decision-making tools used in capital budgeting and risk management, including portfolio theory and the CAPM. Students learn how modern corporations make financing decisions, evaluate sources of funding, and understand how capital structure influences share valuation. Quantitative Methods for Business Finance introduces statistical techniques and econometric principles needed for hypothesis testing and regression analysis, enabling students to interpret empirical financial results. Business Economics provides insight into economic theory and the macroeconomic and governmental influences on businesses. Investment Valuation Models focus on using global financial information to estimate asset value across different scenarios. The dissertation encourages independent research applying analytical and empirical methods to a real financial issue. Optional modules allow students to specialise in areas such as international accounting standards, global financial markets and regulation, international finance, and emerging technologies in FinTech and digital banking, preparing them for roles in global finance environments.
