COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Management MRes program includes a set of core modules designed to develop both practical and research skills essential for addressing complex environmental challenges. The Environmental Tools and Methodologies module introduces students to a broad range of tools and techniques used across disciplines in environmental management, providing hands-on experience in laboratory, field, and desk-based approaches for identifying, monitoring, and managing environmental problems. Research Planning and Communication Skills focuses on developing students’ ability to plan, articulate, and communicate research effectively. Through this module, students gain experience in writing research proposals and presenting them through posters and oral presentations to an academic audience, honing their ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally. The Research Project in Environmental Management is a substantial independent research module that allows students to explore a topic of their choice in depth. It aims to develop advanced research, technical, and analytical skills, enabling students to produce an original piece of work that demonstrates critical thinking, methodological rigour, and practical application. Together, these modules ensure that graduates are equipped with the technical expertise, analytical abilities, and communication skills necessary to conduct high-quality research and contribute meaningfully to the field of environmental management in both academic and professional contexts.
