COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Relations MA offers a combination of compulsory and optional modules that build strong theoretical and practical expertise in global politics and diplomacy. The compulsory module, Evolution of International Relations, explores major theoretical developments and key debates shaping the discipline, while the Dissertation and Research Skills module enables students to conduct independent research on a chosen area of interest, developing high-level analytical, methodological, and academic writing skills. A wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies to specific global issues and regions. Topics include conflicts such as the Arab-Israeli dispute, global development from critical perspectives, great power politics, and international development policy. Students can study areas like international organisations, international political economy, and international security, analysing major issues such as terrorism, war, climate change, economic growth, and global governance. Other modules examine themes such as media and social movements, migration and identity, South Asian studies, military history and strategic thought, and political and strategic communication. These modules combine theoretical inquiry with real-world case studies and practical analysis, providing a comprehensive understanding of contemporary international challenges and equipping students with specialised knowledge relevant to careers in government, NGOs, research, diplomacy, security, and international policy.
