COURSE CURRICULUM

The Brunel LLM Law program includes one compulsory module and a broad range of optional modules that allow students to tailor their studies to specific legal interests and professional goals. The compulsory Dissertation module requires a 15,000-word research project, enabling students to develop advanced skills in legal research, critical analysis and academic writing while exploring a specialised area of law. The extensive selection of optional modules covers key fields such as international criminal law, environmental law, human rights, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, financial regulation, trade law, dispute resolution, privacy and data protection, media law, migration law, corporate responsibility and sustainability, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and technology law. Students can study international commercial arbitration, WTO law, international humanitarian law, terrorism, and comparative justice systems, gaining both theoretical and practical insight into global legal issues. Specialist modules also explore regional human rights systems across Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, and contemporary legal challenges such as ESG, blockchain and digital copyright. This flexibility equips students with deep subject knowledge relevant to careers in legal practice, international organisations, corporate compliance, policy and research, strengthening their employability and preparing them for leadership roles or further academic study.
