COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law LLB at Brunel provides a thorough understanding of English law, combining foundational knowledge with practical legal skills essential for a successful career. In the first year, students study public law, criminal law, contract law, and civil justice systems, developing analytical, research, and professional skills while learning about judicial review, criminal offences, trial processes, and the resolution of civil disputes. The second year builds on this foundation with modules in tort law, land law, equity and trusts, and EU law in the UK context, offering critical perspectives on contemporary issues, historical development, and legal principles. In the third year, students can choose from a range of advanced optional modules such as banking law, competition law, company law, evidence, international commercial arbitration, international investment law, international law and human rights, jurisprudence, sentencing and penology, AI, data and the law, and intellectual property law. These modules explore specialized areas of law, including corporate governance, dispute resolution, human rights frameworks, legal philosophy, regulatory compliance, and emerging legal challenges related to technology and AI. The program also includes a dissertation, enabling students to conduct independent research, develop critical thinking, and demonstrate advanced legal analysis. Throughout the degree, Brunel emphasizes practical experience, professional preparation, and the development of transferable skills applicable to diverse legal and non-legal careers.
