COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Criminal Justice LLB at Brunel provides students with a comprehensive legal education while offering specialist knowledge in criminal law and the criminal justice system. In the first year, students study foundational modules including public law and legal skills, criminal law and the criminal justice system, contract law and civil justice, and academic and professional development. These modules equip students with essential legal knowledge, research, and analytical skills, while fostering critical thinking about crime, governance, and justice. The second year builds on this foundation with modules covering EU law in the UK context, land law, tort law, and trusts, enabling students to understand key legal frameworks, rights, obligations, and the social and historical contexts of the law. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics such as evidence, sentencing and penology, international law and human rights, and optional modules including company law, banking law, competition law, families, children and the law, jurisprudence, AI, data and the law, intellectual property law, and a dissertation. This allows students to develop specialist expertise, conduct independent research, and critically evaluate legal principles and their practical applications. Graduates gain transferable skills, professional competence, and the knowledge required to pursue careers in legal practice or related fields, including qualification as a solicitor or barrister.
