COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences with Business Studies BSc at Brunel combines the study of sport science with essential business knowledge to prepare students for careers in the sport, health, and exercise industries. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in biomechanics, human anatomy and physiology, psychology of sport and exercise, physical activity for health and wellbeing, and sports pedagogy and development. Alongside this, the business modules introduce management enquiry, organisational behaviour, and marketing principles, providing an understanding of organisational structures, leadership, communication, and consumer engagement. In the second year, students build on research skills, data analysis, and graduate employability while exploring advanced sport science topics such as physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and policy in sport and physical education. Optional modules allow students to deepen knowledge in areas including human resource management, managing change, marketing communications, and applied biomechanics. In the final year, students complete a substantial independent research project in sport, health, and exercise sciences while further developing employability, professional development, and critical analysis of policies and practices. Optional modules provide advanced study in biomechanics, applied sport psychology, physiological limitations to performance, entrepreneurship, gender and organisations, innovation, and micro-level policy analysis. This multidisciplinary program equips students with scientific, practical, and business skills to succeed in sport, health, and exercise sectors.
