COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing (Adult) BSc at Brunel University is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professional experience required for a successful career in adult nursing. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in nursing practice, human sciences, health promotion, and research methods, alongside hands-on clinical experience guided by the Pan London Practice Assessment Document. This prepares them to deliver safe, person-centred care and to understand the biological and psychosocial aspects of patient health. In the second year, students build on this foundation, enhancing their skills in assessment, planning, and providing person-centred care, with a focus on community, public health, and global health agendas. Pharmacology, prescribing readiness, and research methods are integrated to ensure evidence-based practice and prepare students for advanced clinical roles. The third year focuses on consolidating practice, with students taking increasing responsibility for managing the care of patients with complex needs across diverse healthcare environments. Modules emphasise critical appraisal of evidence, leadership, interdisciplinary teamwork, and preparation for professional registration. Graduates gain competence in delivering high-quality care, managing patient safety, and leading nursing teams, ensuring they are fully prepared to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and enter the healthcare workforce as confident, skilled adult nurses.
