COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Accounting BSc module structure provides a progressive learning journey through core financial, economic and accounting principles. In Year 1 students build fundamental knowledge through modules in mathematics, statistics and data analysis, microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial markets and introductory financial accounting, developing essential analytical and quantitative skills. Year 2 deepens technical understanding through compulsory modules in financial accounting and statement analysis, corporate finance, corporate investment and management accounting, with optional topics such as company law, quantitative methods, econometrics, ethics and accountancy research methods, and mathematical economics enabling students to tailor their studies. Year 3 focuses on advanced professional preparation, with a compulsory module in advanced financial reporting and a wide range of optional specialist pathways including econometrics, applied research, corporate policy, financial engineering, risk management, fixed income markets, behavioural finance, housing finance, sustainability, public sector accounting and forensic accounting. Students can also take modules centred on contemporary issues, corporate governance and comparative international accounting. Across all years the curriculum emphasises theoretical knowledge, practical application, analytical skills and professional readiness, supporting future careers in accountancy, finance, banking, investment industries and research roles.
