COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics BSc at Brunel University provides a comprehensive understanding of economic theory alongside practical skills for application in finance, banking, and business environments. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in financial markets, financial accounting, microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics for economics, statistics, and employability skills, preparing them for more advanced study and career readiness. In the second year, the focus expands to intermediate micro and macroeconomics, mathematical economics, money and banking, monetary economics, econometrics, and preparation for placements, developing both analytical and practical skills relevant to modern economic systems and financial institutions. The third year builds on these foundations with advanced modules such as macroeconomics, further econometrics, game theory, panel data analysis, and employability, alongside optional modules in applied research, managerial and industrial economics, labour economics, behavioural economics, international finance, developmental economics, political economics, economic history, economics of information, environmental economics, public economics, and data analysis for microeconomic policies. The program emphasizes real-world application, equipping students to analyse market behaviour, government policies, and organisational decision-making using quantitative and statistical tools.
