COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Management BSc at Brunel University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of both economic theory and management practice, preparing them for careers in business, finance, and public policy. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in statistics, mathematics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial accounting, and organisational behaviour, equipping them with essential analytical and decision-making skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, services marketing, human resource management, and critical perspectives in management, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical organisational contexts. Optional modules offer additional training in quantitative methods, money and banking, and monetary economics, supporting deeper engagement with economic analysis and financial systems. The final year offers a wide range of optional modules, including applied research in economics, managerial and industrial economics, labour market analysis, international finance, development economics, and environmental economics, alongside management-focused studies such as strategic management, international marketing, entrepreneurship, business ethics, and governance. Students also complete a core project on contemporary issues and controversies in management, integrating research skills with practical application. By combining economic insight with management expertise, graduates are prepared to critically analyse complex business environments, make informed decisions, and pursue careers in management, consultancy, policy, or international business, equipped with both analytical rigor and practical experience.
