COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Accounting BSc at Brunel University provides a comprehensive foundation in both economics and accounting, preparing students for careers in finance, banking, and accountancy. In the first year, students study core subjects including financial markets, macroeconomics, microeconomics, accounting and financial management, mathematics for economics and finance, statistics, and data analysis. These modules build essential conceptual, quantitative, and analytical skills while introducing practical tools for business decision-making. In the second year, the curriculum advances to more specialized topics such as macroeconomics II, microeconomics II, management accounting, principles and practices of financial accounting, and quantitative methods, with optional modules in company law, econometrics, and applied quantitative techniques to support research projects or dissertations. The final year focuses on advanced applications and professional practice, including corporate reporting, auditing and assurance, taxation, sustainability accounting, international money and finance, and managerial and industrial economics. Students also have the opportunity to undertake applied research projects in accountancy, economics, banking, and finance, allowing them to demonstrate independent analytical and research skills. Across all three years, the program combines theoretical understanding with practical application, equipping students with the technical knowledge, professional competence, and problem-solving abilities required to succeed in the global financial sector and pursue further professional qualifications or postgraduate study.
