COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science (Network Computing) BSc at Brunel is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computer science while specialising in network computing. In the first year, students develop basic programming skills, understand data collection, storage and analysis, and explore the behaviour of information systems. They also gain experience in logic, computation, and applying programming concepts to non-trivial problems, alongside completing a group project to build confidence in technical abilities. The second year focuses on integrating these skills through a more complex group project, developing knowledge in software development, usability engineering, algorithms, networks, and operating systems, while emphasising practical application and project management. In the final year, students tackle advanced topics in computer science, undertake an individual final-year project, and have the option to specialise in network computing, artificial intelligence, digital media and games, software engineering, human-computer interaction, software project management, or cybersecurity. The program balances theory with practical, project-based learning, preparing students to analyse, design, implement, and test software and networked systems. Graduates gain the skills and experience needed for careers as network specialists, analysts, or programrs, and are equipped to address real-world challenges in system connectivity, security, and the development of advanced networked computing applications.
