COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science (Cybersecurity) BSc at Brunel is structured to provide a strong foundation in computer science while allowing students to specialise in cybersecurity. In the first year, students build core skills through modules in introductory programming, data and information management, logic and computation, and programming applications, supported by a group project that integrates these skills into practical problem-solving tasks. The second year deepens technical knowledge and software development skills through modules such as software development and management, usability engineering, algorithms, networks, and operating systems, alongside a level 5 group project that emphasizes analysis, programming, and technical collaboration. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics in computer science and complete an individual final-year project that demonstrates their ability to integrate analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Optional modules allow further specialisation in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, software engineering, human-computer interaction, network computing, digital media and games, and software project management, providing flexibility to tailor learning to specific interests. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on practical, project-based learning, preparing students for professional roles in cybersecurity, software development, or IT management. This structure ensures graduates are equipped with both theoretical understanding and practical experience to meet industry demands and pursue careers in cybersecurity or related computing fields.
