COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Computing BSc (Hons) program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of how information systems support business operations and decision-making. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in programming, data management, logic, computation, and understanding the behaviour of information systems through modules such as introductory programming, data and information, logic and computation, information systems and organisations, programming applications, and a group project that integrates these skills in practical tasks. In the second year, the focus shifts to software development, business analysis, process modelling, usability engineering, digital societies, and a Level 5 group project, allowing students to analyse, design, and implement software systems while understanding the evolution of business processes and their impact on organisational performance. The final year provides an opportunity to engage with advanced topics in business computing and complete an individual final-year project that demonstrates analytical, research, and problem-solving skills in an integrated manner. Students can also choose optional modules including cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, software project management, social media, and eBusiness, which allow for specialisation and exploration of emerging technologies, contemporary business applications, and strategic use of information systems. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on practical experience, project-based learning, and preparing students to address real-world business computing challenges effectively.
