COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Computing (eBusiness) BSc (Hons) degree at Brunel equips students with the knowledge and skills to develop and manage IT systems that support business processes and drive eBusiness. In the first year, students gain foundational skills in programming, data and information management, logic and computation, and the interaction between information systems and organisations, supported by practical group projects to apply these skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics such as usability engineering, software development and management, business analysis and process modelling, and the study of digital societies, reinforced through a Level 5 group project that integrates technical, analytical, and programming skills in practical tasks. The final year allows students to explore advanced topics in business computing, undertake an individual final year project, and study contemporary eBusiness strategies, including the use of internet technologies to gain competitive advantage. Optional modules provide additional expertise in areas such as cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, social media, and software project management, giving students the opportunity to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals. The course emphasizes project-based learning throughout, preparing graduates for real-world IT and eBusiness roles by combining theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving, teamwork, and research skills.
