COURSE CURRICULUM

This Banking and Finance program offers a comprehensive academic journey from core financial principles to advanced specialist topics. In Year 1, students develop essential foundations in financial markets, macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial accounting, mathematics for economics and finance, and statistics and data analysis. These modules build strong analytical, numerical and theoretical skills necessary for understanding economic behaviour and interpreting real financial data. In Year 2, the degree progresses to core subjects such as corporate finance, corporate investment, and money and banking, while also preparing students for professional placements through a dedicated employability module. A wide range of optional modules allows students to deepen expertise in areas including econometrics, micro and macroeconomic theory, company law, accounting, mathematical economics and quantitative methods. In Year 3, compulsory modules focus on banking operations, financial regulation, economics of information and employability, alongside specialised study of housing finance. Students can further tailor their degree through advanced optional modules such as behavioural economics and finance, financial engineering, econometrics, risk management, international finance, fixed income markets, and corporate policy. This progression equips graduates with strong theoretical understanding, practical analytical skills and knowledge of real-world financial systems, enabling them to succeed in careers across banking, investment, corporate finance and financial services.
