COURSE CURRICULUM

The Engineering with Business BEng program offers a balanced combination of technical engineering knowledge and essential business and management skills. In Year 1, students develop core skills through modules such as Engineering Practice, Engineering Systems and Energy, Mathematics for Computer Systems, Data and Information, Internet and Network Technologies, Introduction to Electronic and Computer Systems, and Accounting and Financial Management. These modules build a foundation in problem solving, programming, physics, data handling, networking, financial literacy and understanding basic engineering concepts. In Year 2, the focus shifts to more advanced technical and professional skills through modules including Microcontroller Principles, Sensors and Automation, Data Networks and Cyber Security, a Microcontroller Group Design Project, Professional Practices and Business for Engineers, Engineering Design and Manufacturing for Business, and Project Management. These provide experience in embedded systems, control, cybersecurity, teamwork and business operations. In Year 3, students complete an Individual Project and study Engineering Management and Quality Engineering along with Entrepreneurship and Small Business Ventures. Optional modules such as Embedded Systems, IoT Design, Big Data Analytics, AI and Machine Learning, Project Planning and Risk, and Energy Infrastructure Engineering allow students to specialise. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers combining engineering expertise with strong business and project management capabilities.
