COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Energy Systems) program develops core engineering skills in mathematics, programming, mechanics, systems modelling, electronics, and digital technologies during the first year, providing students with essential problem-solving, design, communication, and professional development abilities. Students learn fundamental physics and engineering concepts including measurement, uncertainty, Newton’s laws, and basic analogue and digital electronic systems. In the second year, the course expands into specialised areas such as communication systems, renewable and sustainable energy technologies, electronic circuit design, signal processing, and microcontroller-based system development. Students also enhance practical design and teamwork skills through group projects and gain understanding of business and professional engineering practices. Digital systems design, microcontroller principles, and the analysis of signals and systems further strengthen technical capability. In the final year, students explore advanced electronics and undertake an individual research project that demonstrates their engineering, planning, and technical expertise. A key focus of the final year is sustainable electrical energy systems, giving students insight into the technologies and operations of modern renewable power networks. Optional modules allow tailored specialisation in areas such as artificial intelligence, embedded systems, robotics and control systems, digital communications, and machine learning, supporting preparation for careers in energy engineering and related fields.
