COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) BEng at Brunel provides students with a comprehensive foundation in electronic and electrical engineering while specialising in artificial intelligence applications. In the first year, students develop fundamental skills in engineering mathematics, programming, mechanics, electronics, and energy systems, along with professional skills such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and career planning. They also gain hands-on experience with digital and analogue electronic systems and learn about the roles and responsibilities of professional engineers. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced technical topics including communication systems, electronic systems, signals and systems, microcontrollers, and sustainable electrical engineering, while also developing design, project management, and business skills. Students engage in practical projects and design exercises that integrate theory with real-world applications. In the final year, students deepen their knowledge in advanced electronics, artificial intelligence systems, and engineering management, and complete an individual project that develops research, planning, and professional skills. Optional modules provide additional specialisation in areas such as embedded systems, robotics and control, digital communication, applied AI, machine learning, and sustainable energy systems. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience in modern laboratories, working with industry-standard software and hardware, preparing them for careers in engineering, AI, and technology-driven industries.
