COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering BEng program provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the principles, methods, and applications of civil engineering across all three years. In the first year, students develop essential skills in engineering mathematics, programming, mechanics, and materials, alongside an introduction to civil engineering principles, professional practice, sustainability, and ethical considerations. They also gain practical experience through problem-solving, technical drawing, and team projects. In the second year, the focus shifts to construction materials, sustainability, surveying, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, reinforced concrete design, soil mechanics, structural analysis, and conceptual design projects, allowing students to apply technical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges while developing teamwork and communication skills. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics such as resilient infrastructure, transport planning, project management, procurement, computational structural analysis, design of steel and timber structures, geotechnical engineering, integrated design projects, and an individual final-year project. This year emphasizes practical application, critical thinking, sustainability, and innovation in civil engineering solutions, as well as awareness of environmental, social, and economic impacts. Graduates emerge equipped with strong analytical, technical, and transferable skills, prepared to design, construct, and manage sustainable infrastructure projects while contributing to global development goals, making them ready for professional practice or further study in civil engineering.
