COURSE CURRICULUM

This Automotive Engineering program provides a structured progression from fundamental engineering principles to advanced vehicle technologies. In Year 1, students build core knowledge in engineering mathematics, programming, mechanics, energy systems, materials and thermodynamics. They also develop essential professional skills including problem solving, design, teamwork, communication and project management, while gaining understanding of measurement, uncertainty and engineering models. Year 2 progresses into more specialised subjects such as vehicle design and performance, dynamics of machines, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer, solid mechanics, and finite element analysis. Students also learn CAD, manufacturing processes and engineering business skills to prepare for professional practice. Engineering mathematics and programming continue to support analytical and modelling abilities. In Year 3, students undertake a major individual project demonstrating their research, technical and analytical skills. Specialist modules deepen expertise in mechatronics and control engineering, sustainable engineering management, vehicle propulsion systems, structures and FEA, vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics, and intelligent transportation technologies supporting future mobility. The course provides strong theoretical understanding and practical application, equipping graduates with industry-ready skills for modern automotive engineering challenges, including efficiency, performance, sustainability and emerging intelligent transport systems.
