COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Public Health course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to address public health challenges in diverse local, national, and global contexts. Students will complete core modules covering foundational concepts in public health, including health protection, community development, social determinants of health, epidemiology, statistics, and evaluation. Leadership and project management skills are developed to prepare graduates for professional roles within healthcare systems and public health organisations. Research methods are a key component, culminating in an independent dissertation project that allows students to investigate a specific area of interest in depth. In addition to core modules, students choose a 20-credit optional module from a suite of specialised topics, such as public health in practice through placements, emergency preparedness and response, health data science and analytics, migration and health, or violence in society. This flexibility enables students to tailor their learning to their career ambitions and areas of interest. Throughout the course, theoretical knowledge is integrated with practical and applied approaches, ensuring graduates develop critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The MSc Global Public Health prepares students for careers in international and national health organisations, research institutions, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and other roles focused on improving population health, health equity, and public health policy and practice.
