COURSE CURRICULUM

The MFA Acting course is structured around 300 credits of core modules designed to provide intensive, conservatoire-style training that develops the skills, knowledge, and creativity required for a professional acting career. Early in the program, students undertake Acting Exercises (40 credits) and Acting Skills 1 (20 credits), which focus on core techniques in acting, movement, singing, and voice, complemented by Workshops 1 and 2 (20 credits) that encourage experimentation with different methodologies. Professional Studies (20 credits) prepares students for the realities of the industry, while Workshop 3 (20 credits) and Research Methods (20 credits) enhance both creative exploration and critical enquiry. The Major Project (40 credits) allows students to pursue an area of personal artistic interest, demonstrating independence and originality in their work. Production 1 (20 credits) provides practical performance experience, while Acting Skills 2 (40 credits) advances ability in acting, movement, and voice. The program culminates in Productions 2 and 3 (60 credits), where students participate in fully staged performances, working at professional standard as part of an acting company. Collectively, these modules provide a balance of practical training, performance opportunities, research, and professional preparation, equipping graduates with the versatility and resilience to sustain successful acting careers.
