COURSE CURRICULUM

The MArch (RIBA Part 2) course is structured into two stages, each designed to develop advanced architectural knowledge, creativity, and professional practice skills. In Stage 1, students complete 120 credits through core modules that provide a strong foundation in advanced design and research. The Advanced Praxis module (40 credits) challenges students to explore innovative design approaches while Research Principles (20 credits) equips them with the skills to critically investigate architectural concepts and methodologies. Material Practices (40 credits) encourages experimentation with construction methods, materials, and sustainable approaches, while Co.Lab II (20 credits) focuses on collaborative, interdisciplinary working, preparing students to operate within complex, real-world contexts. Stage 2 continues this progression, requiring another 120 credits through advanced modules. The Architectural Thesis (60 credits) forms the central element, enabling students to undertake a major design project that demonstrates creativity, technical ability, and critical reflection. Negotiated Practice (20 credits) provides opportunities for students to tailor their learning towards personal career aspirations, while the Special Study module (40 credits) allows deeper exploration of a chosen area of interest. Together, these modules integrate theory, research, and practice, ensuring students are prepared to progress towards professional qualification and contribute innovatively to contemporary architecture.
