COURSE CURRICULUM

To complete the Visual Communication course, students must successfully complete all core modules totaling 160 credits. These include Advanced Critical Practice, which provides 40 credits focused on developing high-level analytical and creative skills, Research through Practice, a 20-credit module that emphasizes the integration of research methodologies with practical design work, Contextual and Professional Practice, a 40-credit module that situates students within professional and industry contexts, and the Professional Project, a 60-credit module that allows students to demonstrate their expertise and produce a substantial body of work. In addition to the core modules, students are required to complete at least 20 credits from a selection of optional modules, allowing for customization of the program to suit individual interests and career goals. Optional modules include the Industry Project, Independent Creative Entrepreneur, and Work Placement, each worth 20 credits, which provide practical, hands-on experience and opportunities to engage directly with professional environments. The course is designed to balance theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical application, equipping students with the expertise needed to excel in creative industries. Core modules are guaranteed to run, while optional modules may vary each year, offering flexibility and a range of pathways tailored to students’ ambitions.
