COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Arts and Education Practices course requires students to complete a structured combination of core and optional modules, offering a total of 180 credits. The core modules, which make up 160 credits, are designed to provide both theoretical and practical grounding in arts education. Narratives in Creative Pedagogy (40 credits) explores storytelling and creativity as tools for teaching and learning, while Research Through Practice (20 credits) allows students to critically investigate their own creative processes as part of academic research. Global Arts Practices in Education (40 credits) encourages students to examine how artistic practices and education intersect across different cultural and social contexts, broadening their perspective of arts education on an international scale. The Professional Project (60 credits) serves as a capstone module where students bring together their learning and practice into a substantial body of work, showcasing their professional skills and creative development. In addition, students are required to complete at least one optional module worth 20 credits, choosing from opportunities such as an Industry Project, Independent Creative Entrepreneur, or Work Placement. These optional modules are designed to enhance employability and professional experience, although availability may vary annually. This structure ensures students graduate with critical, creative, and practical expertise.
