COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM International Law course requires students to complete core modules totaling 120 credits, which include Public International Law, International Human Rights Law, Advanced Skills, and a Dissertation or Live Project, with the alternative option of a placement. These core modules provide a solid foundation in the principles, structures, and mechanisms of international law, equipping students with the analytical, research, and practical skills necessary to understand and apply legal concepts in global contexts. In addition to the core curriculum, students must complete at least 60 credits from a range of optional modules, allowing for specialisation in areas such as International Criminal Law, Development and International Cooperation Law, International Environmental Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Refugee Law, and the regulation of conflict and peace through international legal frameworks. This flexible structure enables students to tailor their studies to match their career aspirations and interests, fostering a deep understanding of both theoretical and practical dimensions of international law. Through the combination of core and optional modules, the program develops students’ ability to critically evaluate complex legal issues, conduct independent research, and propose informed solutions, preparing graduates for careers in international law, human rights advocacy, policy development, and global governance, as well as further postgraduate research opportunities.
