COURSE CURRICULUM

The nursing course prepares students for a career in nursing, requiring 360 credits for eligibility to apply for entry onto the NMC register. In Year 1, students start with foundational modules like "What is Nursing?", which explores the evolving role of nurses and introduces essential nursing knowledge and skills. "Assessing Needs and Planning Care" focuses on the early stages of the nursing process, including comprehensive assessments and care planning. "Providing and Evaluating Care" covers the final stages of the nursing process, teaching students to provide care and evaluate its effectiveness. Leadership skills are developed through "Introduction to Leadership and Teamwork", and "Professional Practice 1" offers hands-on experience in the practice setting, building confidence and competence.Year 2 builds on this foundation, with "Complex Care 1" and "Complex Care 2" focusing on advanced assessment and care for complex situations. "Improving Quality and Safety in a Global Context" looks at healthcare quality, safety, and public health issues, while "Leadership and Coordinating Care" further develops leadership and management skills in nursing. "Professional Practice 2" continues to provide clinical experience, further consolidating students’ skills and confidence in practice settings.In the final year, the course focuses on specialized areas such as "Nursing Care: Mental Health", which explores mental health care approaches and the bio-psychosocial model. "Medicines Management and Applied Physiology in Mental Health Nursing" emphasizes safe medication management, while "Leadership and Decision Making in Mental Health Nursing" examines leadership roles in mental health settings. "Delivering High Quality, Safe Nursing Care for People with Mental Health Nursing" ensures students can provide safe, evidence-based care. "Professional Practice 3" prepares students for independent practice, building on previous years to support their development in the practice environment.
