In Year 1, students are required to complete 120 credits through core modules that establish a foundation in game development. The Game Programming module introduces essential programming languages and tools, allowing students to apply coding principles through practical assignments. The Modelling module equips students with skills in 3D asset creation using industry-standard software, covering techniques such as texturing and lighting. In the Game Asset Pipeline module, students learn how to manage and integrate game assets, focusing on workflow efficiency and version control. The Game Mechanics module teaches how to design and program engaging gameplay mechanics using popular game engines. The Animation module focuses on creating smooth, responsive animations that enhance gameplay, while the Game Design module provides insights into level design, narrative development, and user interface design, all critical for creating compelling games.In Year 2, students continue their journey with 120 credits across advanced modules. The Interface and UX Scripting module explores creating intuitive and player-centric interfaces for games. The Web and Mobile Development module addresses the development of games for mobile and web platforms, covering responsive design and cross-platform development. In the Game Studio Production module, students experience the professional game development environment, working in teams to create a game from concept to completion. Worldbuilding focuses on designing immersive game worlds, while Immersive Technologies introduces VR and AR development. Collaborative Practice further enhances teamwork and communication skills as students engage in interdisciplinary projects.The final year is a culmination of the previous learning, with 120 credits through specialized modules. Game Artificial Intelligence teaches students to integrate AI techniques like pathfinding and machine learning into games. Virtual Production explores blending animation, CGI, and live-action footage using game engines. Game Audio dives into the technical and creative aspects of game sound design, while the Console Game Development module focuses on the specific challenges of console game development. The Individual Honours Project allows students to showcase their skills through a substantial independent project, demonstrating their creativity and technical expertise in professional game development.
