COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of this economics course, students will be introduced to foundational concepts across a variety of economic fields. The Principles of Economics module covers basic economic theory, helping students understand business behavior, consumer patterns, and market dynamics. Economic History provides a historical perspective on how economies have evolved over time, while Professional Development for Economists focuses on developing the necessary numeric skills and preparing students for future careers in economics. The Economic Analysis module equips students with statistical tools to interpret complex economic data, whereas Introduction to Finance introduces the fundamentals of finance and the financial environment. Data Intelligence teaches students how to use tools for managing and analyzing complex data sets to support decision-making in organizations.In the second year, students advance to intermediate-level studies. The Intermediate Microeconomics module dives deeper into market behavior and decision-making, covering topics such as consumption, production theories, and market structures. Political Economy introduces students to differing economic schools of thought, exploring the works of key economists like Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and John Maynard Keynes. Intermediate Macroeconomics builds on foundational macroeconomic theories to explore national and international economies, while Econometrics offers practical techniques for analyzing economic data through regression analysis. Additionally, students can choose from a variety of optional modules, such as Economics and Sustainable Development, Business Operations, or Corporate Finance, to tailor their studies to specific interests. In the final year, students refine their knowledge with advanced modules such as Advanced Economic Theory and International Economics. The core modules also include the Economics Research Project, where students apply their economic knowledge to a comprehensive research project. Students can also choose between Business Research Methodology and Practice and Business Advice Project for their final assessments. Optional modules in the final year include Corporate Financial Strategy, Industrial Economics, Money, Banking, and Monetary Policy, and Real Estate Economics, among others, allowing students to specialize further in their area of interest. This combination of core and optional modules prepares students for a range of career paths in economics, business, finance, and related fields.
