This Film Production course provides a thorough understanding of digital filmmaking, blending creative skills with technical knowledge. In Year 1, students begin with foundational modules such as Video Production, Visual Design, Capture and Acquisition, and Studio Production, where they gain hands-on experience in digital film production, including camera work, sound recording, and studio environments. Students also learn the fundamentals of sound for film and the essential technologies used in video production. These modules ensure that students are well-versed in both the artistic and technical aspects of filmmaking. In Year 2, the focus shifts to more specialized production techniques and collaboration. Students engage in modules like Production Practice, where they work on short-form drama productions, and Narrative Design, which introduces them to the principles of screenwriting. The course emphasizes the importance of teamwork and collaboration through modules such as Collaborative Practice. Students also delve into the technical side of filmmaking with modules on production workflows and post-production, where they develop skills in editing, compositing, and audio finishing. The final year provides students with real-world experience through the Production Project, where they collaborate on an independent film project, and the Individual Honours Project, which allows for in-depth research and practice. Virtual Production and Professional Futures modules further prepare students for the evolving film industry, with a focus on cutting-edge technology and career development. By the end of the course, students will have acquired the necessary skills and experience to excel in various roles within the film industry, supported by a strong portfolio and industry connections.
