In the first year of the computing program, students engage in foundational modules that establish essential skills for the field. The *Innovation Project* (20 credits) encourages creativity and collaboration, allowing students to work in interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative products, culminating in an exhibition to an international panel of experts. The *Computer Systems* module (20 credits) provides an overview of computer architecture, hardware, software interaction, and number systems, laying the groundwork for more advanced topics. *Applied Operating Systems* (20 credits) focuses on how operating systems manage hardware and networks, offering practical skills using open-source software. *Computer Programming* (20 credits) introduces programming principles and practices, allowing students to design, build, and test software. *Mathematics for Computing* (20 credits) helps students develop core mathematical and statistical skills essential for computing.
