These modules prepare students for advanced study in IT and business contexts.In the second year, students will delve deeper into advanced topics in business information systems and computing with a focus on practical application and industry-relevant skills. The core modules, totaling 120 credits, include Business Process Re-engineering, which covers methodologies and process modeling techniques like Business Process Modelling and Notation using industry-standard tools such as ARIS, CAWEMO, and Bonita, to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction; Enterprise Systems, which explores how organizations implement systems to gain competitive advantages, improve productivity, and facilitate real-time decision-making, while addressing challenges in system maintenance and process redesign; Database Systems Development, which introduces students to the design, development, optimization, security, and administration of robust database systems; Applied Programming, which focuses on the development of software applications, including requirements gathering, design, programming, and testing; Human-Computer Interaction, which teaches user-centered design principles and techniques for creating effective interactive experiences, including accessibility and universal design; and the Enterprise Practice Project, a hands-on module that emphasizes research and innovation through the application of computing concepts in real-world contexts. These modules equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to address the complex challenges of modern IT and business environments.In the final year, students will consolidate and apply their knowledge in advanced topics relevant to the IT and business sectors, with a focus on real-world application and professional development. The core modules, totaling 120 credits, include Consultancy and IT Management, which helps students understand the role and processes involved in providing consulting services, managing client relationships, and preparing for leadership roles in larger organizations; Business Intelligence, which equips students with the skills to apply analytical methods and business intelligence tools to process and interpret organizational data for informed decision-making; Strategic Information Systems Alignment, which explores how information systems and technology can be aligned with business strategies to enhance organizational success in the global digital economy; Application Solutions Development, which focuses on the use of low-code/no-code platforms to develop automated business solutions quickly and cost-effectively; and the Individual Honours Project, a major independent project where students research and develop a practical outcome in an area of personal interest, guided by a supervisor, with the opportunity for additional support and resources as the project progresses.
