COURSE CURRICULUM
This engineering program is structured to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills progressively across three years, equipping students for diverse roles within the engineering field. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through core modules that cover fundamental principles in mechanical and electrical sciences, mathematical modelling, and hands-on engineering practice. Modules such as Engineering Principles 1 and 2 provide the theoretical base, while Mathematical Modelling 1 and 2 develop essential problem-solving and data analysis skills using mathematical software. Practical application is emphasized through modules like Engineering Practice and the Integrated Engineering Project, which promote teamwork and the integration of theoretical knowledge into real-world engineering tasks. Moving into the second year, the program advances into more specialised areas such as Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, Mechanical Science, and Numerical Analysis. Students are introduced to interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership through the Leading Engineering Endeavour module and tackle sustainability and real-world challenges in Design and Materials. Design and Manufacture further enhances technical proficiency by developing research, CAD modelling, and prototyping skills. The final year consolidates this learning with a focus on industry-relevant tools and complex systems analysis. Modules such as Computer Aided Engineering and Dynamics and Control introduce sophisticated simulation tools and advanced modelling techniques. Advanced Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Power and Energy Systems equip students with deep understanding in high-level engineering problem-solving and sustainable energy solutions. The capstone of the program is the Individual Honours Project, a 40-credit module that allows students to explore a topic of their choice in depth, applying research and technical skills to create a significant artefact supported by contextual analysis. Throughout the course, students develop the professional, analytical, and creative skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving engineering landscape, making them well-prepared for employment or further study upon graduation.
