COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Scriptwriting course is structured to develop students’ storytelling and scriptwriting expertise through a balance of creative practice and professional preparation. Offered full-time over one year or part-time over two, the program is divided into three trimesters. In the first trimester, students focus on the fundamentals of narrative craft through The Craft of Story module, exploring key literary and structural elements of scriptwriting. Alongside this, the Writing for Performance module introduces the practical and creative challenges of writing for stage, screen, and other performance media through collaborative exercises. The second trimester deepens professional understanding through the Professional Practice module, which equips students with industry knowledge and career-focused skills. The Production Lab module provides the opportunity to collaborate with peers to create original works across various media, culminating in a presentation event that showcases their creative output. The final trimester centres on the Final Script double module, where students independently develop a polished creative project to professional standards, supported by mentorship and feedback. Core modules include Story Workshop, Writing for Performance, Professional Practice, Production Lab, and Final Script. This program combines theoretical learning, creative experimentation, and industry engagement to prepare graduates for professional careers in screenwriting and performance writing.
