COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology degree offers a comprehensive exploration of human behaviour, thought, and emotion, grounded in the five core psychological perspectives: biological, cognitive, developmental, individual differences, and social psychology. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in psychology, research methods, individual differences, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding, alongside modules that support student success and interdisciplinary exploration. The second year expands knowledge through advanced study in cognitive, developmental, biological, and social psychology, and introduces applied areas such as clinical, counselling, business, educational, health, and forensic psychology, along with work placement opportunities to gain practical experience. Students also explore psychology’s role in social justice, health, sport, and publishing contexts. The final year emphasizes independent research through a dissertation and modules applying contemporary psychological science to diverse topics, including environmental psychology, human memory, cyberpsychology, ageing, sexual health, gender, ethnicity, victimisation, and public health. Additional modules enhance communication and engagement with psychological knowledge, alongside applied projects in publishing, science learning, and animal behaviour. Throughout the program, students develop analytical, research, and professional skills, gaining experience in data analysis, critical evaluation, communication, and applied practice. The course prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in psychology, research, health, education, social services, and related fields, while also providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study and professional development.
