COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Creative Computing (Gaming) course provides a comprehensive education in both the technical and creative aspects of game design and digital media. In the first year, students gain foundational skills through modules such as CodeLab I, Web Development, Ideation and UX Design, Digital Storytelling, Creative Coding, and Digital Visual Design, which together establish a strong grounding in programming, design thinking, and visual communication. In the second year, students build on this knowledge with advanced modules covering Alternative and Emerging Technologies, Computer 3D Modelling and Visualisation, Indie Game Design, Extended Realities, Physical Computing, Data Visualisation, and Playful Media, while participating in industry-focused projects and a professional placement year. This stage emphasizes applying technical skills to creative projects, exploring new technologies, and understanding the professional context of the creative computing and gaming industries. In the final year, students focus on independent and industry-aligned work through modules such as Creative Project, Creative Incubator, Serious Games, Commercial Games, Creative Web, Web Games, Creative AI, and Cyber Security, culminating in preparation for professional practice with Industry Ready. Across all levels, the course integrates technical, creative, and professional development, ensuring graduates possess the skills, experience, and industry awareness to thrive in game development, interactive media, and creative technology careers.
