COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing course provides a comprehensive and practical education in computing, preparing students for careers in software development, user experience design, and emerging technology sectors. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge and skills through modules including CodeLab I, Introduction to Computing, Fundamentals of Computation, Web Development I, User Experience Design, and Databases. These modules focus on computational thinking, coding, digital design, and data management, providing a solid base for more advanced study. The second year builds on this foundation, with modules such as CodeLab II, Web Development II, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality and the 3D Web, Data Visualisation, Smartphone Apps, Physical Computing, Network Administration, and a Professional Placement Year, offering opportunities to apply learning in real-world environments and gain industry experience. In the final year, students consolidate their expertise through Devised Project I and II, Innovation Lab I and II, Cyber Security, Creative Incubator, and Computing for Business, allowing them to undertake self-directed projects, explore entrepreneurial opportunities, and address practical challenges in computing. Throughout the course, students develop technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking, creating a professional portfolio that demonstrates their capabilities. Graduates are prepared to enter the technology industry with both practical experience and a deep understanding of current and emerging computing practices.
