COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Theatre, Festival and Event Production degree offers a practical and comprehensive education in the technical and creative aspects of live performance and event production. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in stagecraft, stage management, lighting, sound, video, scenic design, costume, and core production techniques, alongside personal development and research skills. The second year builds on this foundation with intermediate modules in production skills, practice, and research, allowing students to gain more advanced technical expertise and professional experience, including the opportunity to undertake a professional placement year to apply learning in real-world settings. The final year emphasizes independent and industry-focused work, with modules in research projects, independent study, working with industry, and developing a professional portfolio, as well as major production projects. Throughout the program, students engage in hands-on learning, participating in live productions and events that provide practical experience and foster collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability. By documenting their development and reflecting on their practice, students cultivate critical thinking and professional growth. Overall, the course equips graduates with the technical skills, creative confidence, and industry knowledge necessary to succeed in theatre, festival, and event production roles, preparing them for a dynamic and competitive professional environment.
